Another attempt at the harbour cranes. Didn’t have time to venture too far from home. Probably have at least 20+ different versions of this shot from over the years!

It was only a matter of time before the sun disappeared and the weather turned to shit!

Last day of February and it was a stunning sunrise. Didn’t have long to get out of bed to a location, this is always a good spot to fall back on in emergencies.

Another damp gloomy day on the rock, pushing the limits of my patience and inspiration!

Another stunning, fiery sunrise which left me speechless. My eyes have seen pretty much every possible weather combo Guernsey has to offer but these scenes just blow your mind.

If it’s too large for a plane, this is how it gets to you. There’s no denying it, the harbour is a mess but it serves it’s purpose and it’s our lifeline to the supply chain.

Last day of September started in spectacular fashion. In the 6 (nearly 7) years I’ve been doing this, 2021 has been pretty poor for these kind of skies. I still wake up an hour before sunrise every day, check outside and you can normally gauge how it’s going to pan out. The colour started to pick up about 45 minutes before sunrise so it just a matter of patiently waiting for something to happen.

From bed to location in a little over 5 minutes. I tried to have a lie in but just couldn’t resist peeping my head outside to see if there was any colour in the sky. Not quite as spectacular as yesterday although the few extra degrees was very welcome.

Amazing colours in the sky this morning. Always puts you in a good mood seeing things like this.
15.09.20
After a long summer of getting up stupidly early, it’s nice to be able to set the alarm at a reasonable time. It’s been a while since a there was a sky like this in the morning!

Beauty and the beasts of the North.

I try to mix things up everyday but when time is short, revisiting locations is the only option. Harbour cranes set the perfect contrast of industrial workhorses and natural wonders.
18.04.19
Nearly gave this one a miss, things looked a bit grey when my alarm went off. Within 15 minutes the sky started turning and it was literally a case of jump out of bed, get dressed and find a spot in under 5 minutes!
18.12.18
The sun tried it’s best to make an appearance this morning. A splash of pink was the only colour in the sky all day. If someone could invent windscreen wipers for filters, you can take my money now!

Even on what seems to be a grey dull morning, it’s still worth getting up and heading out because you just never know what can happen.
