As far as bench spots go, this one ranks up there with one of the finest Guernsey has to offer.
The sun broke through on the horizon eventually but it only lasted a few minutes.

Rain, rain and more rain. There’s a theme occuring this year! When there’s breaks in the cloud, I love the rain because that’s when the magic can happen. When it’s solid grey grey, that sucks.
There wasn't as much strong winter sun as I’d hoped although the shadows and highlights are much easier to control when it’s like this. I did nearly get cut off, five more minutes and I would of had to deal with some sketchy submerged rocks!

The wild side of winter is not for everyone but for me it adds to the challenge of capturing the mood.

Head in the sky at 06:30, there was a strong hint that the sky was going to burst into life. Some days it’s worth travelling the extra few miles to really experience these moments.
Every time I come down here there seems to be less and less pine trees. Either fallen in the wind or cut down at the need of their life. I’ve got a feeling the remaining pine’s won’t be around for too much longer.

Not only is it great exercise getting down here, this time of year offers some fantastic winter light to play with. Although the tides were racing up on the flat beach, the cave offers a perfect window to mould a shot.

Technically, the ‘Golden Hour’ and normally the hour after sunrise but this morning offered so many options beforehand and the sky just kept on getting better. I was in my element, a fun ‘happy’ hour with the camera!

Last day of November, finishing off with a classic Guernsey scene and a stunning rainbow. I sat through three downpours to get this shot but my persistence paid off. Luckily I found a rock to shelter behind and the rain was driving in from the west so the lens stayed relatively rain free. There was also a lot of careful planning in my mind as to where to be, along with the help of some basic sun calculation apps and rain radars.

I’ve always struggled to find the right balance between day and night in this area but I think I’ve finally found my happy medium.

Another stunning, fiery sunrise which left me speechless. My eyes have seen pretty much every possible weather combo Guernsey has to offer but these scenes just blow your mind.

Always expect the unexpected! I always feel like I’m letting myself down a bit by visiting the same location time and time again but every now and then, something really magical happens. The sun position was perfectly positioned behind the church roof, cloud cover was spot on and the colours were just phenomenal.
For me, it’s all about the journey. Without being here, I would have missed this and the experience and feeling you get can’t be explained in words.

Town Church from Market Square on a chilly autumn night. For those that didn’t know, the church hold the record for the closest pub to a church in the British Isles!

Almost a whole year I’ve waited to get down here for some stunning autumn light and this afternoon didn’t disappoint. A beautiful beach, and fascinating to observe the coastal erosion at the base of the cliffs.

Nestled deep in the valley, there’s one tree which stands out from the rest every year. Although the light wasn’t great, the tree’s showing a full spectrum of autumnal colours. The brown dead leaves at the top, yellows in the midde and lower leaves still holding onto their summer greens.

I almost pulled the covers over my head this morning but me being me, got up anyway to check the sky and I could see it starting to pick up some colour 45 minutes earlier. A 5 mile drive later and a mad run down to Marble Bay I was greeted with this stunning sky. Sometimes a little extra effort goes a long way.
This is a good example of how the higher level clouds pick up the colour in the atmosphere.

The stunning Gingko tree in Candie Gardens. I wanted to catch it before all the leaves fall off with some strong morning sun to accentuate the colours.

Back to Petit Port, hoping for that once in a lifetime photo opportunity which didn’t happen. There were some stunning light rays a few mile out. Salvaged a few shot I liked.

Full on rainbow appeared as I was heading home and an opportunity I couldn’t miss. I was getting hammered with rain but it was coming from behind so I didn’t have to worry about rain spots.
