I’ve noticed loads of properties embracing the Nerine recently and why not. They add that extra boost of colour in the Autumn when everything else is dying out.

Every flower should have a name and this one shall be named James! I do still think about you Foxy, even though you're on the other side of the world.

And so it begins! It starts with the daffodils, then before you know it, everything is green and colourful once more. I’m more than ready this year.

Apart from a week of blue skis, nothing shouts summer more than a sunflower in full bloom. Not one of my creations unfortunately.

I can’t unsee a really happy and over excited flower that’s just had its tummy tickled or a flower version of Pikachu but it’s a Bee orchid. Designed by nature to mimic a bee so that they would attempt to mate with it and spread their pollen.

First introduced from Mexico in the 1830’s, these daisies have made themselves homes across the island growing out of hundreds of walls, paths and doorways. Technical name is Mexican fleabane.

Guernsey has some stunning homes, even more so towards the middle of May when all the Wisteria starts to bloom as it grows strategically around the doors and windows of the buildings.

You’ve probably noticed the daffs but keep an eye out for these beauties popping up around the island. This patch in the grounds of St Martins Church is a great spot, every year without fail.

Thousands of wildflower orchids to choose, the difficult part is isolating the right one.

Bringing a little Mediterranean vibe to a peaceful lane in St Martin.

A day filled with chores, one of which led me to a garden centre. Found a whole section of succulents for a quick no drama’s photo.

Between the storms you just need to look at the ground to notice that spring is just around the corner. We’ve nearly made it through the shit, now you can look forward to the vibrant colours of spring. I do love the winter but I do miss those long warm summer days.

Guernsey was well known for its tomato and flower exports back in the day but now very few vineries still stand the test of time.

Mixing up the macro combinations as a little experiment. This is the 50mm prime with another 60mm of extension tubes. Since moving to full frame from apsc, every focal length and optimal setting I’d adjusted to with macro went out the window. It’s a case of start again and see what works and what doesn’t.

I had no idea what these were called until I looked it up today but I’ve noticed them all over the island. Every time I drive past some I think about stopping and never do. These were in the middle of L’Ancresse common early this morning.

Loose flowered wild orchids growing in Les Vicheries lane. Most of the 13 fields are coming into bloom with a number of other orchid species propping up.

Needs no introduction really. Plenty of photo opportunities to come over the next few weeks. Watch this space…

And just like that, the first signs of spring appear!
