Round II in what felt like the ultimate rainbow chasing day. I recon there was at least one rainbow an hour through the day but work and life commitments got their way!

I’ve always liked the look of these cosy little cottages along the west coast. The thought of a roaring fire watching the waves crasher in the winter seems more appealing as I get older.

Amazing views down to Fort Grey from the winding lanes above.

I found this view point last year by accident on one of my many tours of the parishes. There’s a bench to the side of the road where you can sit and take in the views.

Another stormy day, another rainbow hunt complete. The combo of sun, cloud and rain was perfect, it was just a case of waiting it out which luckily came sooner than I expected.

While the kids were entertained I wandered the vast rocky shores of Roquaine for a spot of crabbin. Found a few different species and some weird looking eels but this one was the biggest one I found.

Sadly, today we said our goodbyes to my grandad ‘pappy’. I have many fond memories that have been circling around in my head but one we shared is the exploration of Guernsey coastline. He often spoke of diving the shipwrecks off the coast around here, even bringing us plates and cutlery from the wrecks to use at home!
Everyone deals with deaths in different ways and I wanted to express it in a way I think he’d appreciate.
We’ll all miss you and until we meet again, rest in peace x

Unfortunately, we were unable to retain our sand sculpture title (we arrived as it finished) but it’s still a great family day out and you’re almost guaranteed to see old friends along the way.
This was the crab pot pulling, with a little assistance from the bigger kids.

Another stunner on the rock. Wandering through the fields around Pleinmont there’s some amazing views out over the west coast.

After watching the rain roll in over Hanois, the sun started to break through and I knew I had to move. Just around the corner the sheep presented themselves perfectly with Fort Grey and the rainbow taking centre stage in an amazing burst of colour.

Rocquaine under a heavy and angry sky. Pretty much non stop like this for the last few day but this just adds to the excitement of being out hunting down an image.

I had no intention of finding ormers, it was just such a nice day with a 0.6m low tide to explore. I did want to find some starfish but only found a few small live crabs. I did find a huge chancre crab but it had passed on into crab heaven.
22.02.21
I’d love to live in one of Rocquaine’s cottages but the only thing that puts me off is the fact its only 10 metres from the sea and I’ve seen these houses get hammered by the storms!

Taking myself out of my comfort zone for this. One of my biggest setbacks in photography is approaching strangers and asking them to take their photograph. Maybe it’s the fear of rejection or even the pressure to get it right in a few click. That said, put a pint between us and I could happily chat for hours! Either way, from what I’ve read, the more you ask the easier it gets.

Part of me wishes I’d traveled the extra mile to be on the other side of this rain cloud but it was still a fascinating sight to watch the curtain of rain pass across Rocquaine.

Made a fantastic camping weekend out of the regatta this year, thanks to Mike + Mel, amazing weather and even better friends. These two though, literally can’t separate them. If they’re not together in person, they’ll be zooming and playing online together at any given opportunity!. It’s sweet though, and they had a great time together. Champion sand sculptors too!

Getting out was hard work today and opening the car door was even more of a mission. Haven’t driven for over a week so took a drive out west to check out the wave action.

Fleeting light passing just as quick as the sharp hail showers. I do love this weather but just wish I had more time to get out with the camera.

Fantastic afternoon at Rocquaine Regatta, a genuinely Guernsey experience with some great characters. These lads helped build the Viking boat which even had a fully working flame thrower on top!

Another stunning and warm day on the rock. Managed a nice trip out west at lunchtime, just wish I’d had by swimming gear with me.
