Trying my luck for another rainbow shot over Fort Grey. It's always hit and miss but all the ingredients were there it’s just pot luck if the sun breaks though in time to give a full on vibrant bow.

A little reminder that it wasn’t always about the snowflakes.

Always a pleasure to wander around the Pleinmont headland towards the end of the day. This was a small trek down the cliffs to a spot I found a few years back. Works better in the winter when the sun is further south so I will be back for another shot in Q4!

The peak of the year and it doesn’t really feel like summer has even started yet. But, you know it’s summer when they hay bales are set out in the fields!

Icy breeze up here this morning and the clear sky proved difficult to work with and this is one of the last shots I took before heading home.

The nearest land mass in this direction is Plounamac’h, France, 55 miles away. It’s a lovely spot to just stare into the deep blue and unwind.

Part of the submerged German trenches below the Pleinmont headland. It still amazes me how such an incredible network of tunnels and trenches were build in such a small amount of time.

Another stunner on the rock. Wandering through the fields around Pleinmont there’s some amazing views out over the west coast.

May the fourth be with you! We may not be battling the Infiltrator in a faraway galaxy but there was once, 76 years ago, a very real battle going on which left a permanent mark on the island.

If I ever needed a reason as to why I keep this hobby up, this is one of them. Way out west looking out towards the setting sun and Les Hanois Lighthouse in the distance.

After watching the rain roll in over Hanois, the sun started to break through and I knew I had to move. Just around the corner the sheep presented themselves perfectly with Fort Grey and the rainbow taking centre stage in an amazing burst of colour.

Over the years I’ve learnt to really appreciate our coastline. From the wildlife and and flowers in the spring to the spectacular and violent seas in the winter, nothing clears your head more than getting out and experiencing what’s on our doorstep. That said, my toes and fingers had lost all feeling by the time I took this. Must get thicker gloves and socks!

If you were to draw a straight line to the nearest land mass in this direction ( I did on Google Earth) you would end up somewhere in Florida over 4000 miles away.

If there was ever a good reason for me not to drink on new years eve then this would be it. Felt sub zero up here first thing, the roads were iced over and my hands were burning they were so cold! Sunrise wasn’t great but I saw a massive rain cloud moving in so waited another half hour and then the magic happened.

A mix of rain, hail, sleet and sunshine drifting in from the North.
23.10.20
Another quick trip to Pleinmont so see what the weather had to offer.

Where heath and safety doesn’t exist. The wilder side of Guernsey with a darker history.
09.06.20
I had a shot planned which I scouted out yesterday. The problem was, the hay bales that made the shot work had been removed overnight! A few f bombs later, these two cows were in the field opposite and you can’t turn down a cow that runs over to you for a stroke.
26.04.20
The end of Guernsey, 90 metres above sea level and a seemingly endless horizon. The next closest land mass is Paimpol in France nearly 50 miles away!

Everyone has their limits, mine can be pushed further than they should but when you have views like this, isolation isn’t too bad.
