Gambled a long drive in the hope the sun would break through and sure enough it did, for about 2 minutes.

I’m not actively taking part in the 30 Bays but I’m going to do my best to visit most of them over the next few weeks. Feels like a small Mediterranean fishing port.

Quick stop off at Saints Harbour before heading back to work.

Kid free afternoon walking around the Jerbourg headland. This is one of my favourite spots, looking down to Petit Port, Moulin Huet and Saints harbour. I was going to go down but after a recent landslide it’s closed off again.

High above Saints Harbour, next to no wind and a familiar warm wind which made it almost feel like summer, but not quite there yet.

Icy cold but sheltered spot on the slipway. Kept my distance away from the beast in the sea.

The shortest and darker day of the year but on the plus side, it means were back on the road to the glories of summertime!

The landscapes may be timeless but the ever changing tides creates opportunities that can’t easily be recreated. It’s a fine balance of light and motion that’s hard to predict but sometimes it just falls into place.

It finally happened. Luckily I record backup jpg’s to the CF card but its still frustrating when you become so used to RAW files. The camera did warn me but I assumed it was a passing error. Backup your files people.

Saints Bay is undoubtably one of the finest bays on the south coast (second to Petit Port in my eyes). With higher tides, the pier makes a great place to chill and, if you fancy it, jump off the pier for a swim.

A classic for any local adventurer. With fairly clear skies I needed something with not too much focus on the sky and as the light intensified, this just made itself.

Before the luscious green comes the miles and miles of stunning Blackthorn flowers. If you haven’t been for a wonder around the cliffs recently, now really is the time to do it. It’s amazing to see so much white blossom.

An unlucky 13th day in more ways than I want to remember but I did get some gorgeous light first thing. Couldn’t be bothered to battle the wind and this is a great place to fall back on time and time again.

The first day of the meteorological winter, observed from Saints Bay. The tides were perfect and just enough hazy cloud on the horizon to keep the highlights balanced. 30 days left and that would be six years non stop daily photography (2162 days to date). I’ve filled nearly 8TB of storage and many more GB’s thrown away to make space. In my mind, I’m still only getting started!

I’d set up on the pier before the hail started hammering down. Luckily the store has a great sheltered vantage point to watch the weather do it’s thing.

Stuck for ideas this morning so it seemed like a good time to revisit the fishing store at Saints Harbour. The red bricks compliment the morning sun perfectly, giving a warm orange glow inside.

A little corner of Saints Bay, partially hidden being a wall of rocks. It’s no secret but on a warm day with a high tide it feels like a little piece of the Med.
13.08.20
Late morning adventures, between the fog, Saints Bay was like a dream. The water was so clear and not a single wave breaking, the sun was pumping out some warm rays and the sound of the birds topped it off. One of those special Guernsey moments that stick with you.

Treated the kids to a dip + dine at Saints Bay Hotel today. Whilst the grounds could do with some TLC, the pool was like a bath and the food was really tasty too.
24.04.20
Watching the fog roll in from the south, hoping the light would burst through. Didn’t happen but it was (and always is) so peaceful down here. Even spotted a seal pop it’s head up a few times.
