It’s been a pretty epic day of rain. I left the house at 05:00 but failed to capture a lightning bolt so ventured out again mid afternoon to capture another huge downpour. Love this weather.

One of the many steep routes from the top of St Peter Port, winding all the way through town to the seafront.

The season may have changed but the summer warmth is hanging on for a little bit longer.

It’s always sad to leave Herm but it always leaves a good vibe in the air. Spend most of the day putting up the tent. I am now officially broken!

The view from half way down Clifton Steps. One of the unique things about town is the fact that almost every single roof and building is shaped in a different way. That is character!

Standing my ground, I refuse to let the rain get in the way. This was just after sunrise this morning, armed with an umbrella and a cleaning cloth the rain hammered down over me. Everything just went in reverse and seemed to plunge into darkness.

The top of Valnord Road has a great view across the rooftops rising up Victoria Road. The early winter sun had just risen really emphasising the red brick and terracotta chimneys.

Always expect the unexpected! I always feel like I’m letting myself down a bit by visiting the same location time and time again but every now and then, something really magical happens. The sun position was perfectly positioned behind the church roof, cloud cover was spot on and the colours were just phenomenal.
For me, it’s all about the journey. Without being here, I would have missed this and the experience and feeling you get can’t be explained in words.

13 hours into the night and 30 minutes before sunrise. Always loved this spot and will no doubt revisit here many more times.

A familiar sight for many but how well do you know your Guernsey beaches? Can you guess the location…
28.02.21
Half way between Fermain and Bluebell woods. Originally built to allow a former Governor and his wife to bath in privacy, now it’s a great fishing spot.

First day back at work and relentless rain really doesn’t make things easy when you just want a nice simple shot. After all these years, one thing that I have come to terms with is that not every day will be your best shot but, things can only get better!

Beauty of a sunrise on my way to work on Friday. Love the view from up here!

The last day of British Summer Time, although I think we can all agree the summer did one in mid September!
This was about 30 minutes before sunrise.

Left the house with little time to plan anything this morning. You can always rely on the Bathing Pools to fill in the gaps.
18.02.20
It’s that in between season when things can turn from good to bad in a very short space of time. This morning was a complete contrast to late afternoon.

Stunning light display over St Peter Port this morning. In a panic to get somewhere I defaulted to Arcade Steps, not because it’s an easy shot but because it just offered the perfect views to watch the magic happen. Although a little less intense, the sky was like this for well over an hour before sunrise!

If you have an interest in the Guernsey Folklore ghost stories, this area is said to be home to La Bête De La Tour, a large black dog with bright red eyes and heavy chains who prowls the streets at night.
