Wandering through the quiet lanes of St Saviour. This house has always caught my attention and feels like a classic ‘Guernsey House’.

Seeing as the chickens physically blocked the road, I though I should probably take the opportunity to grab a rural country shot.

Working as an architect I study the designs of many modern and contemporary homes (archdaily is great) but as I get older the appeal of a traditional rustic Guernsey farmhouse seems more and more appealing. Unfortunately, most with generous gardens and outbuildings are well over any realistic budget.

Late 19th century farmhouses in rural St Pierre du Bois. The charm of Guernsey’s rural parishes that I love searching for.

Bellieuse farmhouse in the lanes behind St Martins church.

I’ve lost count as to how many times I’ve driven past here and tried to visulaise exactly how I’d capture it. Today I had my breakthrough. What a stunning house though, looks even better in spring when the trees in bloom.

Another fine example of a classic and beautifully restored Guernsey farmhouse. The remains of the old water wheel are hidden on the gable end of the barn opposite.

Those warm beach days are now a distant memory but on the plus side only 46 sleeps and the days start getting longer again!
