Head in the sky at 06:30, there was a strong hint that the sky was going to burst into life. Some days it’s worth travelling the extra few miles to really experience these moments.
Every time I come down here there seems to be less and less pine trees. Either fallen in the wind or cut down at the need of their life. I’ve got a feeling the remaining pine’s won’t be around for too much longer.

Stunning and warm autumn day on The Rock! I always struggle with clear skies but when you position the sun behind an object you can create some cool sunburst effects in camera.

For me, the clouds and rain make or break a landscape image. I know exactly what I want in my head and I will search for those visions if it means I get absolutely soaked and using a valuable Sunday lie in. After nearly 7 years of exploring almost every square mile of the island, it’s nearly impossible to find new locations. The answer is to keep going back to your favourites and see it in a different light.

It’s not easy getting up for sunrise in the summer but just being out there watching the world wake up is something that drives me to keep doing it. No more than three cars passed, a few cyclists and a load of birds singing in the trees.

With the impending rain storms, I knew an early rise was my only chance to capture something worth looking at. It started pretty bland but as the clouds started to roll in, things started to look a little brighter.

Stuck for ideas today so here’s Guernsey’s rural landscape.

This is the fourth time this month I’ve been down here to give this shot another go. Each time was either too cloudy or no clouds at all. This morning was almost another fail with thick haze on the horizon but I waited and I paced along the path for nearly an hour and then a rouge cloud bank rolled in and gave me something I was happy with.

For the first time in six years I went out with a drained battery in my camera. I normally check the night before but for the last few days I just didn’t bother. Luckily I had a spare in my car which was half a mile away when I realised but I managed to salvage some of the stunning light when I made it back.
21.09.20
I’d hoped for a little more moisture in the air to get more atmosphere and I had very little enthusiasm today so I’ll take a rain check on this and return when the conditions are better.

This summer seems to have flown by quicker than normal. Maybe I’ve actually made the most of it and tried to hold on for too long but one thing is apparent, the leaves are fading and on a grey day things are starting to look a little orange.
26.08.20
Desperately trying to avoid the ‘norm’, cruising down Talbot Valley, the light shining through the trees caught my eye. Quick u-turn to grab what I could. It looked better in my head though.

The temperature hit 21°C at 05:00 this morning. It genuinely felt like being on a hot holiday somewhere far south. Needless to say it was a great hike down but going up in jeans and a hoodie was testing the mind.
27.03.20
Five full suns in a row! Photographically they can get a bit dull but there’s nothing quite like being on your own watching the world wake up with only the sound of crashing waves and the distant hum of fishing boats at sea.
23.04.19
Spent most of my afternoon hiking around the cliffs just mesmerized by the tunnels of greenery.
29.03.19
Quick stroll around the woodland walk above Talbot Valley before work. Another week or so and the bluebells should be in full bloom and completely transform this area.
03.12.18
High on the cliff paths looking down into Petit Bot valley.

Good or not, there’s a picture to be found anywhere you go. I nearly gave up with this area but spent a few more minutes looking and walking around to end with this.
