A thin slither on the horizon was enough to let the sun burst through some epic colour into the sky. I wish I’d taken a phot of the castle behind me because it was a surreal orange fortress.

The idea was to get a shot of the cruise ship but it was taking way too long and the light was turning quickly. Still always nice to watch the sunrise down here.

A welcome sight back to our shores, the first of many cruises scheduled for the season.

Built in the late 1800’s, this used to house th families and keepers of Les Hanois Lighthouse. Now it’s three separate cottages. Every time I see this house I can’t help imagine what pain in the arse it must be to mow the front lawn!

This was a bit of an afterthought. The sky looked promising earlier but I couldn’t make up my mind where I wanted to be.

I try to save this location for special, colourful sunrises and this one was no exception. I had a little issue wit the waves crashing over behind me which was a bit sketchy but I used myself as a shield and stuck with it and I was quite pleased with the results.

After watinig for nearly 45 minutes, I packed up and reached the Yacht Club to turn around and see the sky starting to turn. It didn’t last long and the rain seemed to be swirling around from all directions.

If I ever needed a reason as to why I keep this hobby up, this is one of them. Way out west looking out towards the setting sun and Les Hanois Lighthouse in the distance.

In my eyes, the Spring Equinox marks the start of summer. From her on it’s only going to get better. Warmer weather, sunnier and longer days and so much more to do.
Couldn’t think of a nicer way to start the Spring to be honest.

Finishing off the last few days of this year with something a little less strenuous on the legs. Although it was a little uninspiring, there were two seals swimming around the harbour, one of which came right up the the breakwater and just stared at me for a minute then got spooked by a fishing boat.

As pretty as it was, I had to use my body as a windshield up here this morning. Time to bring the thermals back out I think.

I’ll be honest, I’m a little bit bored of this area but when time is against you and you know it’s about to kick off, it’s a great spot to be in.

Had a proper risk analysis moment with this one. Even at low tide the strong winds were bringing the sea over the pier and a massive rain cloud was edging closer. I had about 10 minutes to pull something off and for 2-3 of those minutes the sky pumped out some dreamy colours.

New week, new challenges but with a week of sunshine it can only get better right?

The reason I set my alarm an hour before sunrise every single day of the year (apart from hangover days)!

Built in the 60’s as a navigational aid, guiding ships to deeper water, its been recently renovated back to its former glory.

One of my favourite (and there are many) places to escape from the world to watch the sun rise. This time of year it’s very rare you bump into anyone else.

What an amazing start to the Easter break. Forget spring, that’s yesterdays’s news, now it’s all about the early summer vibes. Warm continental winds, all day sunshine and beautiful island scenery.

Classic Guernsey scenery, the Castle Pier Lighthouse.
